48 hours of accumulation and its turned into Exxon Valdez. Puddles  under the trans but appears to be engine oil, the drivetrain is so thoughly caked that its hard to tell where its coming from. Probably everywhere.

Rear main seal, probably.

Pull the bellhousing inspection plate and you should have your answer.

Full well expecting to end up pulling the trans off

Could be the rear main seal, if it is, don’t neglect to service/replace the PCV system which is often the cause of excessive crankcase pressure and resultant bursting of the rear main seal in the first place.

There's a lake of oil under my pickup after a few days, right under the rear main seal. Just the nature of the beast.

S u re, what did you think would happen if you go park with your wheels all jacked to the side like that? Scottsdales and Subu r bans need to be parked with wheels straight, on a 10degree upslope, preferably over crushed gravel or loose sand. It’s in your (irretrievably lost) owners manual to expect fluid seepage if you don’t follow the parking guidance. I’m surprised it’s not spewing coolant from the overflow hose!

Seriously, though, it’s probably the rear main seal, unless it’s the valve cover gaskets (in which case you should see it running all down the sides or rear of the en gine block), and I don’t remember if those are the easy 2-piece ones you can change by dropping the oil pan (which invariably leak again because 2-piece seals... don’t) or if it’s the 1-piece type where you have to pull the driveshaft and trans to replace. I’m sending positive thoughts your way, hopefully it’s the 2-piece. Good luck and remem ber to post a followup, if and when...

You must have been low on oil before if the RMS wasn’t already leaking.

It did le ak before but less, the level did get low.  Its been sitting for 7 years before i bought it s o that’s probably a factor.

The SBC has a lot of good attributes but the ability of the RMS to actually seal ain't one of them.

That puddle was there before. I wouldn’t worry about it.

I think every vehicle over 30 years old has a leaking rear main.

Is it a 350? If so, the RMS is going to leak no matter what, probably even  after you swap a new one in.

If you don’t look under the car for puddles, there are no puddles to worry about

If there’s oil under it, there’s oil in it!
